Elvis’s first record. It’s like Jack Nicholson’s first movie, Babe Ruth’s first home run or the first episode of The White Lotus, it’s iconic and it’s historical. This record was released in 1956 where we learned about his affinity for Blue Suede Shoes and early 90s colors. Those hot pink and green letters on the cover are incredible and make for one of the greatest covers of all time. So good in fact, that The Clash paid homage to it in 1979 with their album “London Calling”.
The record plays really great despite some visual scuffs. There are the beginnings of seam splits near the opening of the cover. I would normally repair this but it didn’t seem right to doctor such a legendary record. It’s got scars and earned them. No ring wear to speak of. Besides those things, the cover and vinyl are in great condition.
This copy of Elvis’s debut album is an early 60’s reissue so not too far from the original release date. Happy bidding!
